The farmers in this far-flung region don’t just grow coffee—they live it. With no choice but to take matters into their own hands, they’ve set up mills along the riverbanks, processing their coffee right where it’s grown. The result? Some of the most complex and rewarding flavors you’ll ever find in a cup.
The flavor profile hits you with rich notes of dark chocolate, fig, and red currant, balanced by the smooth elegance of black tea and a hint of vanilla. We roast it to a medium, letting those flavors sing without overpowering the natural character of the bean.

The beans sold out in no time, and suddenly these women were on the radar of the global coffee scene.
Now, fast forward to 2023. The La Morena program has expanded, working with over 800 women farmers across the stunning regions of Huehuetenango and Baja Verapaz. This isn’t just about incredible coffee—though it certainly is that—this is about leveling the playing field, addressing gender inequality in an industry where men have long dominated the landscape.
